Fried Fish and French Fries

Homemade fried fish with batter and homemade french fries.

Update upon request from inhar_ali:
Here is the dry flour I use to coat the fish.
This fish-fry seasoned flour is very tasty. I use it on my fried chicken too.

If you cannot find this brand, you can mix your own flour. My suggestion is as follow:

1/4 cup rice flour

1/4 cup corn meal

3 tablespoon all purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder (if you like heat. if not you can use paprika)

Pat dry the fish after you wash it. I use zip loc bag to coat the flour. You could also coat the fish with the flour mix on a plate. Dust off excessive flour and fry the fish in deep fryer/wok/pan.

  1. hopefully u could post the batter recipe...hehe..tq

  2. k.zue,
I tak tau mana nak cari corn meal kat kl.. dah byk kali cari kat Bake with Yen & Baguz (jual baking product) tp tak jumpa.
Anyway, baru nak minta recipe ni.. tp k.ina dah tolong mintak.. thanx!

  3. Dhill, how about try grind some dried corn? Without cornmeal, I am not sure what to substitute. Because the flour do has that coarse texture to it.

  4. Oppss...I looked back on the label, you can use corn flour. Tepung jagung.

  5. thank you very much for the recipe.
anyway have never seen that particular flour brand in any hypermarket in KL though!...

  6. hey-who doesn't love fried foods. have you ever tried frying with rice bran oil.
give it a try, you will like the way fried foods taste.

  7. inahar_ali, you are welcome.

Anonymous, I never use rice bran oil. But will check it out. Thanks.
