I use the same ingredients for bahulu lapis as in bahulu cermai. For bahulu lapis, I cooked pineapple jem with sugar. I add yellow color and pandan leaves. let the jem cool down. I keep it overnight in the fridge. Cook the jem watery a little bit for easier spread.
3 cups sugar
about 2 cups total of flour use
Method: In a small bowl, scoop some egg and sugar batter and mix it with about 7 tablespoon of flour. The mixture should be lighter than the mixture for bahulu cermai. Pour the whole batter into a 9 inch round baking pan. Make sure the batter covers all side.
Bake each layer in the 300 degree oven for 10 minutes. Spread the pineapple jem on each layer.
