Sardine Roll

Sardine roll is always my favorite food. I have been trying different way to re-create that delicious pastry to go with the sardine in tomato sauce.
This time I decided to use the empanadas skin. It is sold at the freezer aisle at my local grocery store.

Just put 1 tablespoon of sardine on each skin.
To prepare for the sardine:
1 can of sardine in tomato sauce. Remove the sauce.
1 medium red onion (dice small)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Mesh all ingredients.
Roll the dough and then crimp both ends to ensure no leaking.
Deep fry this in hot oil until golden brown.
Serve warm or at room temperature.

  2. Dhill, you like it really hot ya. Yes, this empanadas skin is life saver. I don't have to knead the dough. But if I need to make in bigger batch then it would be cheaper to roll my own. But at last, I found my recipe for that sardine roll I used to eat when I was young. I have been trying with all kind of pastry, this one turn out the best. And it has to be in this giant size. Not the smaller empanadas skin.

  4. Pigpigscorner, this sardine roll similar to sardine karipap. But I like the sardine filling remain less of other stuff in it. You could add other ingredients like potato if you don't want strong sardine. Let me know how you make out.
